FAQ’s

These are several questions we get asked often! Hopefully this section can answer any of the major questions you might have, but if not, please do not hesitate to contact the Center.

1. Is your centre nut free?

As much as possible, we encourage Parents and Staff to keep all forms of nuts (ie: trail mixes, almond milks, etc) out of our Center. We do have several children with more severe nut allergies and this is something that is very important to us. If we find an item with nuts in it during the day in a pocket, backpack, etc., we will place the item in a sealed bag in the office until the end of the day.

2. What happens if I am running late for pick up?

If you are running late or are not able to make it to pick your child up on time, please make alternate arrangements. Our late fee is enforced by all Educators and it is $50.00 per every portion of 15 mintues that you are late, per child.

3. What kind of requirements do you have for your staff?

We expect all of our Educators to have equal expectations for the children and to treat your children with the same level of care and respect, no matter who they are or what age group they work with. All Educators are required to begin work with a criminal record check, First Aid & CPR, and TB test. Full time Educators must be working on or have obtained a diploma/degree in Early Childhood Education.

All of our Educators are required to participate in ongoing training opportunities as they come up.

4. What do you do every day?

Our Center has been trained in the provincial “Play and Exploration” curriculum, and we are very excited about the positive changes and environments that have been created because of this program. In this program, planning and programming is done based on the interests of the children. We incorporate small group play, art, music, literature, outdoor play, and all types of movement into each day. We have busy but great days! If you are interested in learning more about our curriculum, please check out our Parent Handbooks!

5. What do you eat during the day?

Each day we provide a breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack for the children. Our menu is based on the Canada Food Guide and is prepared alongside our consultant for the Ministry of Education by our full time Cook. Our cook is trained in Food Safe handling techniques. We also provide extra snacks as needed if children are extra hungry or here very late.

6. What kind of rules does the Centre have to abide by?

As mentioned above, we work closely with an individual consultant from the Ministry of Education. As a licensed Child Care Center in Saskatchewan, we are required to follow the rules and regulations listed in the Child Care Licensee’s Manual.
